Established in 1978, CAN builds deep, long-lasting connections with communities across Greater Manchester, through unique, creative projects.
For almost 50 years, we have worked creatively with diverse communities, particularly people from migrant backgrounds, across Greater Manchester. Our creative work is delivered through three strands: young people, communities and artist development. We also strengthen the wider sector through sector and organisational development.
Through exciting, high-quality creative projects with artists, communities and young people, we create powerful work that shines a light on new talent and fresh voices and enriches Greater Manchester’s cultural landscape.
Our mission is to create accessible creative opportunities that empower, inspire and give agency to diverse communities.
CAN is an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation.

“CAN gave me a space where I felt seen and heard. It made me feel valued and gave me the confidence to discover who I really was, connect with others and feel more comfortable becoming part of the wider community.”
